Owsley County High School adds over 900 poppies!
The 8th grade students at Owsley County High School made over 900 poppies for the KY Poppy Project as part of the KY WWI Centennial Commemoration. Deputy Commissioner, Heather French Henry was on hand to receive the poppies.

Members of the Bell County Schools District in Eastern KY make over 3000 poppies for the KY Poppy Project which marks the most ever presented during a Poppy Pickup!

Hopkins County Schools make over 1700 poppies and Southside Elementary School was the sight of the official Poppy Pickup.

2017 KY State Fair Poppy Wall
The KY WWI Exhibit at the 2017 KY State Fair featured an 80 ft. long KY Poppy Wall. Thousands of poppies were placed on the wall from KY Schools and thousands more were made at the state fair by fairgoers.

VFW Auxiliary Makes Poppies!
The Auxiliary from VFW post 4075 made a variety of poppies for the KY Poppy Project! The ladies gathered for a night of poppy making and contributed over 100 poppies for the Poppy Wall at the Ky State Fair.

Members of the KY WWI Centennial Committee will join Councilman Pat Mulvihil and Louisville Metro Parks in honoring the 100th Anniversary of the opening of Camp Zachary Taylor by planting a tree in the Memorial Park.

Inspired by the 5000 Poppy Project in Australia, this amazing display of remembrance is a great way to involve each of you in honoring our history in WWI.
